WILL THERE BE TANKS IN STREETS OF DC THIS JANUARY?

From Indy Media in Los Angeles:

MARINE APCs APPEAR AT ANTI-WAR PROTEST IN WESTWOOD
LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2004 - At 7:50 PM,

What were first reported to be tanks and now identified as Marine APCs showed up at an anti-war protest in front of the federal building in Westwood.

The APCs circled the block twice, the second time parking themselves in the street and directly in front of the area where most of the protesters were gathered.
Enraged, some of the people attempted to block the APCs, but police quickly cleared the street.
The people continued to protest the presence of the Marines, but after about ten minutes they drove off. It is still unclear as to why they were deployed to this location.

It's difficult to understand why the homeland elected a buffoon who has been recorded saying that a dictatorship would "sure be a heck of a lot easier". But this is just pathetic.

Oh! and another thing Lito, I heard Gov. Swarzenner is having difficulty getting his legislation passed in that marvelous blue state of yours because of his big mouth.

I know surprising little about what's going on in state politics in California. I know our Governor got his way on a lot of propositions, either for or against. The biggest disappointment for me was Prop 66, which made some modest reforms to the 3-strikes law. It basically said that you could only fall under 3-strikes if you commit a violent crime. So people couldn't go to prison for life for stealing a bicycle. The governor came out strong against it - lying to people in the last few days before the election - and scaring them with pictures of rapists and child molesters, saying Prop 66 would let them all out of prison.

Anyway, we live in an increasingly frightening country, but I actually think that most Americans do not agree with the direction of our nation. But most Ameicans are living in a world of mass disenfranchisement, longer work hours with fewer benefits, more illness with less affordable health care, and fewer choices at the ballot box. There's more reason than ever to take to the streets.
