Quent Reese
My hits on this site have jumped in recent days and it seems that many people are trying to find out more about Quent. Most who knew him probably already know that he took his life a week and a half ago after battling depression for some time. But some folks might not know that he asked that generous donations in his memory be made to Sandra Reed, who has fought and sacrificed tirelessly for years to stop the execution of her son Rodney Reed.

Carl,
I know this happened over two years ago, so please forgive my extreme and possibly rude tardiness. I only just now stumbled upon your blog entry.
I knew Quent at UT, around 1995-96 when we were all going there. It's possible I might have even met you a couple of times, but I don't know if we ever really talked much when we did. I'd been trying to get back in touch with Quent for years after I moved to Dallas, just to see how he was doing. I was never able to find much in the way of contact information. Only now am I learning the news. I'm so sorry, Carl.
Quent was truly a unique and wonderful person, and I'm sorry I never got the chance to tell him that again. My sincere condolences to you and to Quent's family.
Sincerely,
Homer Alvarez
